Sexy Phil Does The Space Carnival

Phil Plait, by leshoward @ FlickrThe thirtieth Carnival of Space is up at Dr. BA’s place.

Pretty pictures, cheap fusion rockets, extra-solar planets, comic books and an unidentified object following Rosetta.

Much spacy goodness for your brain.

Go. Now. Before I promise not to beat you.

Kate’s New Look

Showin’ Some LoveI hope you like the new look, Lover. You didn’t really give me much to go on.

If you don’t like it, you can tie me up and spank me later, it being Tied-Up Tuesday and all now.

I cleaned up your blogroll and your categories while I was at it.

I think I need a little attention before I go to sleep, so I hope you don’t mind if I wake you up.

Well Look

Happy Mondayat who is taking pages out of my book!

What If You Find Something Totally Cool?

Thousands of Sexy and Funny Images at

A great big peek above our garters to Dr. Phil Plait, the Bad Astronomer for his helpful post about the Galaxy Zoo website. (Plus I’ve been dying to use this image and it’s perfect for this!)

So you’re addicted to Galaxy Zoo, and while identifying galaxies hither and yon you found some killer cool galaxy image. Did you discover something new? Could this be the scientific breakthrough of all time?

Probably not. But it’s still wicked nifty, and you want to find out more. What to do?

Actually, it’s not too hard. What you need to find out is the name of the galaxy — really, the catalog number. If the galaxy is bright/big enough, it’ll be in some catalog like the New General Catalog or the Uppsala Galaxy Catalog.

If you haven’t visited the Galaxy Zoo yet (direct link to the Galaxy Zoo here), I highly recommend it. It’s a website that allows you and I, the average Jane and Joe, to assist astronomers in sifting through the terrabytes of images that are being collected. There’s so much stuff coming in these days that Astronomers just can’t sort it all.

Help science, and look at pretty space pictures. What could be more fun in your underwear? OK, BESIDES that! Seriously, mucho coolio funno.

Read the BA’s step by step instructions and there’s some more helpful hints and some beautiful finds in the comments there, so don’t skip ’em.

(NOTE: We’re still working on killing the spam trojan. We want to be sure it’s gone before we ask to be removed from the blacklists. So we still can’t comment over there. I hope he doesn’t think we don’t love him any more.)

Shuttle To Land In Cali

Via CNN (no word from Dr. BA yet…):

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (AP) — For the second day, rain prevented space shuttle Atlantis from landing Friday at the Kennedy Space Center on its first try, leaving NASA managers to decide whether to prepare to land at a backup site in California instead.

“Our mindset down here is we’re going to land you somewhere safely today,” Mission Control told the shuttle crew Friday morning.

The first landing attempt at California’s Edwards Air Force Base would be at 3:49 p.m. ET. If the weather cleared up over Florida before then, NASA could instead try bringing the shuttle into Kennedy at 3:55 p.m. ET.

The landing site at Edwards was expected to have clear skies, and wind gusts there were not expected to pick up until late in the day.

Janie Killed Me

JanieBelleSeriously.  Beginning of the very first chapter, I’m toast.  I totally held off on moaning about my demise in The Lilith Quotient, because obviously she can’t kill me, right?  I kept waiting for the trick or the super-speed rescue or something, but now she’s four chapters in, and I’m still dead

What’s up with that?

I liked my last words, though.  Very me.

(Anybody have Jesus’ phone number?  Maybe he could help me out here…)
